Court delays continue to push off Judgement Day for former Keansburg Superintendent of Schools Barbara A. Trzeszkowski. Her retirement package – estimated at about $741,000 – received hoots and hollers when announced last January, but comeuppance remains murky. Attorney General Anne Milgram, according to the Asbury Park Press, filed an order in May 2008 for Trzeszkowski and the Keansbury Board to show why the severance part of the package, $560K, is “not contrary to good public policy.” Their reply is that it’s all good because the State hadn’t yet passed legislation overseeing superintendent contracts.

In fact, Keansburg is an Abbott district and the State BOE has every right — and responsibility –to examine anything they want. It’s one of the levels of oversight that come with the Abbott designation. The real question is: why didn’t the DOE know that the Keansburg Board had signed such a contract in the first place?
