802 N.J. Schools Miss NCLB Targets

Speaking of a failing status quo, Adequate Yearly Progress reports for New Jersey were published yesterday and, under the strictures of No Child Left Behind, 802 of our public schools, or 36%, didn’t meet established targets for student achievement. That’s an increase of about 150 schools compared to last year, though AYP increased this year and some of tests were upgraded. Here’s the DOE’s press release and here’s a handy tool from the Star-Ledger that lets you plug in your district and view the results.
