This morning Gov. Christie fired Education Commissioner Bret Schundler over the Race To The Top snafu. American Enterprise Institute briefly reported that Deputy Commissioner Andy Smarick would assume the role of Acting Commissioner, but removed the post minutes ago.

Update: According to the Star-Ledger, Rochelle Hendricks, the DOE’s assistant commissioner for the Division of School Effectiveness and Choice, will be Acting Commissioner of Education.
