Lakewood School Board President Leonard Thomas resigned last week because, according to the Asbury Park Press, he “has grown tired of demanding basic rights for public school students while the school board allocates money for courtesy and hazardous busing to private school students.”

Leonard Thomas' resignation should be a warning to those in Trenton who view proposals like the Opportunity Scholarship Act as some kind of "reform". It's "de-funding", plain and simple, and while the goings on in Lakewood may be an extreme example of what's to come (see my earlier comment on Bob Braun's "hallucinatory" op-ed) the pattern is there for all to see.
