Latest on Opportunity Scholarship Act

From In The Lobby:

There’s been plenty of talk about the Assembly’s so-called “Gang of Thirteen”, the Democrat progressives who were said to be considering a coup against Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver.

To ensure the peace, Oliver reportedly agreed not to post any bill that didn’t have the support of 41 Democrats in the caucus.

Or did she?

When asked by the Associated Press if she planned to post the Opportunity Scholarship Act, the controversial bill that would allow corporations to fund scholarships for children in failing schools to attend classes outside their district, Oliver said no decision had been made. Only half of Democrats are said to support the bill.

Then she said this:

“You can’t use a blanket rule that that there will always be 41,” she said. “You have to evaluate that on a case-by-case basis.”

That sounds like the bill would be posted without the support of 41 Democrats.
