Inside Scoop from Politico on Genesis of Buono’s Final Talking Point

With her campaign struggling in the final weeks to gain any traction against Christie, Buono consulted with Bill Clinton. From Politico:

The source said that Buono approached Clinton at an unrelated Democratic event a few months back, and he told her, “You ought to say, ‘I’m the only one in this race who’s running for governor!’” And so was born her final TV message.
And yet even Clinton, who has recorded robocalls for county executive candidates in other races, stayed away from helping Buono. So did his wife, Hillary Clinton, a fact that her Republican critics have gleefully seized on.
