Tomorrow Gov. Phil Murphy will propose a 2022 budget that includes an additional $578 million in school aid, according to a scoop by Carly Sitrin at Politico.

This would be the highest amount of aid to K-12 education in over a decade, since the Great Recession tanked New Jersey’s revenues.

Also, Murphy will propose an additional $50 million to pre-kindergarten programs, for a total of $18 billion for pre-k-12th grade education. Other aid increases include $25 million more for Extraordinary Special Education Aid, a new $75 million grant fund within the Schools Development Authority, and $4.5 million in school-based wraparound services.
