New Jersey is enduring a heat wave. Teachers and students are sitting in classroom with temperatures of 90 degrees while wearing masks because the Governor’s Office has mandated face coverings in schools until September. But an hour ago Gov. Murphy changed his mind:

Earlier today the Star-Ledger reported that the New Jersey Department of Education, when queried about the difficulties inherent in teaching and learning in 90 degree temperatures, said that schools had the option to cancel school for “heat days.”
Maybe DOE officials should be in closer contact with Governor Murphy.
