Leading a school district is a 24/7 job. Yet some compensation packages may surprise you, especially when you consider the elaborate health benefits, pension packages, and assorted perks that can go along with the job (and are not calculated into the salaries listed below). Here’s the top ten:

  2. Leigh Byron, Trenton Stem-to-Civics Charter School: $300,000
  3. Howard Lerner, Bergen County Vocational: $288,344
  4. Roger León,  Newark Public Schools: $282,425
  5. Eileen Shafer, Paterson Public Schools: $267,900
  6. Silvia Abbato, Union City Public Schools: $248,331
  7. David Miceli, New Providence Public Schools: $243,949
