Montclair Superintendent Jonathan Ponds has requested that families, caregivers, and district staff, regardless of vaccination status, delay all unavoidable travel. In a letter to the Montclair community he wrote,

I know this is a strong statement, but during this global pandemic, I’m asking you to curtail non-essential travel to the greatest extent possible. We will look at holiday travel and advise you of our stance by the end of October.

Ponds defined domestic travel as leaving home for more than 24 hours and travelling anywhere besides Pennsylvania, New York, and Delaware.

“If unvaccinated students must travel for, as an example, a funeral, “they should be tested within three to five days of return and quarantine for seven days, even with a negative test. Without a test,” he continued, “the quarantine period increases to 10 days.”  Remote instruction will be provided for these students.
