Union County School Locks Down After Mother Threatens to ‘Shoot the Place Up’

A parent of a Jefferson Elementary School student at Township of Union County Schools was arrested late yesterday after she phoned the principal and told him she was going to “shoot the whole place up.”  The principal ordered a lock-down of the school building and police were summoned. No one was hurt.

According to Advance Media, police officers began a search for the mother (whose name hasn’t been released to protect her child) while other police officers protected the school building, both inside and out, which remained in lock-down past dismissal time. The mother was found, stopped, and then “arrested and charged with making terroristic threats. She was later sent to the Union County Jail.”

Students were dismissed and school is open today.
